
Snyder, TX - Western Texas volleyball (8-13, 0-4 WJCAC) fell to the New Mexico Institute Broncos on Saturday, (18-2, 4-0 WJCAC) on Wednesday, (16-25, 14-25, 19-25), 0-3.
Western Texas entered the weekend with three losses in conference while New Mexico Military Institute came into Snyder undefeated at 0-3. The Lady Westerners held their own to start the matchup as they held a lead, 3-2. New Mexico Military would regain control as they took a demanding advantage, 13-19. The first place team in the Region V conference took the first set, 16-25.
The home team began the second set with a good run of three unanswered points, 3-0. The Broncos made a comeback to take a one point edge, 4-5. However, a strong kill from the top of the net by Kyra Levassar ignited the home bench and crowd, 5-5. The Lady Broncos took a large seven point lead but the Westerners did not go down easy, 6-13. Western Texas came within two scores and battled, 11-13. The Westerners lost their rhythm and dropped the second set, 14-25. It was a back and forth affair to start the third set with multiple lead exchanges early. Through the first twenty serves, Western Texas found themselves down two scores, 9-11. After a few long rallies, the Lady Westerners knotted up the score, 12-12. New Mexico would take control midway through the third and final set, 19-25.
UP NEXT: The Lady Westerners will be on the road for their next matchup at New Mexico Junior College on Saturday, October 5th. The match will begin at 2pm MDT.
