
Snyder, TX - Western Texas volleyball hosted their first conference matchup against the Odessa Wranglers on Wednesday night, 0-3 (12-25, 18-25, 24-26).
Similar to the previous home game, the team played from behind early and quick as the Wranglers opened with three unanswered points. Down eight, Flor Lazo entered the game for an immediate impact. She leapt over the net to spike the ball for the point which allowed the home fans to fill the arena with cheers. However, the Lady Westerners dropped the first set, 12-25.
The Lady Westerners kept it more competitive in the second set. Midway through, the home team found themselves down two with momentum on their side, 15-12. Though Western Texas made it interesting in the second set, they would go down two sets, 18-25. In the third set, the Lady Westerners and the Wranglers battled back and forth. Western Texas took their first lead of the night early in the third set from a long rally, 4-3. The Lady Westerners held tight to their small advantage late into the set, 18-16. Their lead would falter as Odessa tied it with a 18-points apiece. The back and forth affair would continue to itch each side knotted at 21-points. Western Texas would lose the fight in the end and fall in the third and final set, 24-26.
UP NEXT: Western Texas next matchup will be at home against Frank Phillips on Saturday, September 21. The match will begin at 2pm.
