Westerners Fall in First Conference Appearance

Snyder, TX - Western Texas Westerners (1-5-1, 0-1 WJCAC)  hosted their first conference game of the season against the Hill Rebels (6-0-1, 3-0), 0-6.

The Lady Westerners entered Friday 1-0 in conference after a forfeit victory against the Cisco Wranglers. Hill College started Friday with two conference victories over Ranger and a dominant 4-0 win against Cisco. The first 15 minutes of Friday's matchup was controlled by the Westerners. Multiple offsides by the Rebels halted the eagerness of Hill College and allowed Western Texas control early.

Midway through the first half, the Rebels threatened the Westerners net. In a two versus one, Karmen Coronado pushed towards the front of the box and deflected the strike off of her leg for the save. However a minute later, Hill found the back of the net for the game's first score, 0-1. With nine minutes left in the first half, a miscalculated pass by the Westerner defender, the Rebels were able to extend their lead, 0-2.

A few minutes into the second half, the Rebels separated with two goals, 0-4. Hill College would tally six total goals as the Westerners went scoreless, 0-6.

UP NEXT: Lady Westers women's soccer will travel to Ranger College Friday, September 27th. Kickoff will be at 2pm.
