Women's Golf Wins 2023 NJCAA Southwest District Championship

For 2023, the NJCAA held the Southwest District championship at the Hillcrest Golf Club in Sun City, Arizona. 

College golf events are typically played in a "play 5 count 4" format. With only four players, the Lady Westerners knew going into the event that the odds were against their team in their quest for back-to-back Southwest District wins. 

That fact did not slow down their drive to win. 

The four players put together a wire-to-wire lead with scores 295, 294, and 297 to finish off a dominating 13-shot win over #3 ranked Odessa College. 

Sophomore Chayenne Chivrac led with a 3rd place individual finish at 2 over par for the week. Freshmen Sofie Jensen, Beth Norton, and Margret Nyamukondiwa all finished with top 11 finishes. 

The NJCAA Southwest District championship win came with an automatic entry into the NJCAA Women's National Championship at Buffalo Dunes in Kansas this coming May.
