
Snyder, TX - Western Texas women's basketball (5-15, 0-7 WJCAC) welcomed the Frank Phillips Plainsmen (11-9, 1-5 WJCAC) to the WTC Coliseum Thursday night, 45-57.
The Lady Westerners and Lady Plainsmen both entered Thursday night's affair without a conference victory. Both sides looked to change that by the end of the night with a competitive start. Western Texas found themselves up by a bucket at the conclusion of the first quarter, 13-11. On a big three from Katy Elder, the Lady Westerners went up seconds before half to have a three point lead at the break, 26-23.
It was an even third quarter as both teams went into the final quarter tied, 40-40. The Lady Plainsmen earned a lead and Western Texas was unable to regain their footing. The Lady Westerners fell by twelve, 45-57. Hannah Simmons led Western Texas in scoring with twelve points, six rebounds and two steals. Kendall Carlock had the most rebounds with seven, scored ten points and the most assists with three. Elder also scored ten points, rebounded four times and made two three pointers.
UP NEXT: The Lady Westerners next matchup will be at Clarendon College on Monday, February 6th. Tipoff will be at 5:45pm.
