
Snyder, TX - Western Texas women's basketball (0-1, 0-0 WJCAC) opened their 2024 season against the Blinn Buccaneers (1-0, 0-0 Region XIV), 50-79.
The Lady Westerners basketball season began Friday night with a matchup against the Blinn Buccaneers. Head Coach Rachael Eubank is back for her second season at the helm with a new addition to her coaching staff. Micah Hall joins the women's basketball program as an assistant coach from Kansas. The team has one returning sophomore in Jasmin Holt.
On Friday night, the Lady Westerners were greeted by many friends, family members and other Westerners in the stands for the season opener at the WTC Coliseum. It was a close start in the first quarter with Blinn up six, 8-14. Western Texas fell behind in the second quarter being outscored by eleven points, 20-37. The Lady Westerners battled back in the third quarter and were only outscored by a single point. However, the home squad dropped their first game of the season, 50-79.
Kendall Carlock and Holt led the team in points with 13 points each. Carlock also had the most rebounds on her team with six and collected two assists. Holt contributed four rebounds, two assists and two steals. Kynli Hart scored five points, tallied three rebounds and an assist.
UP NEXT: The Lady Westerners will play their next game on the road at Dodge City, Kansans. The game will be on Monday, November 4th at 5:30 PM.
