Alissa Collins signing with Central Methodist University

Alissa Collins, a sophomore catcher for WTC softball, has signed with Central Methodist University and will join the Eagles softball program this fall. Central Methodist is part of the NAIA and is in Fayette, Missouri.

Collins, originally from Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada, spent 2020 as the starting catcher for the Lady Westerners, and spent time playing second base and outfield. She concluded her time as a Westerner with 28 runs, 28 hits, 11 doubles, 1 home run, and 17 RBI’s, resulting in a .346 batting average and .372 on base percentage. She also had a .973 fielding percentage.

“Alissa was one of the hardest working players I have ever had during my fifteen years at Western Texas College,” said Rome McNary, WTC Softball Head Coach. “She was a player that stayed after practice all the time to do extra and was always coachable. These are the things that made her into the player she has become.”

Off the field, Collins received WJCAC All-Academic honors in the Fall of 2018 and Spring of 2019, as well as NJCAA All-Academic honors for the 2018-2019 season.

“She was also tremendous in the classroom,” McNary added. “I never had to worry about hearing anything negative about her from any of her instructors. I know Alissa will do great things moving forward at Central Methodist University. They are getting a tremendous player and person. She will definitely be missed by our program next year.”
