Richmond, Virginia – Two Westerners are set to compete at the NJCAA Cross Country National Championships on the morning of Saturday, November 13, 2021. The events will take place at Pole Green Park in Richmond, Virginia.

The men’s 8,000-meter race starts at 9:30 a.m. Central Time, followed by the women’s 5,000-meter race at 11:00 a.m. Central Time.

Sophomore Samuel Martinez from Donna, Texas, will be representing the men’s team. This is his second appearance at the NJCAA Cross Country National Championships. Last year, he placed 104th overall and looks to improve on last year’s performance. Martinez has been the front runner for the Westerners in five of the six meets this season.

Freshman Rushell Johnson from Jamaica will be representing the women’s team. She helped lead the women’s team to a 3rd place finish at the NJCAA Region V Cross Country Championships, which tied the teams for the highest place finish.
