Carson Hammond is entering his first season as the Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at Western Texas College. Prior to coming to WTC, Hammond was an Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at Howard College. The team had a 19-11 record and was ranked as high as #8 in the country. Hammond coached 5 guys that signed to play at Division 1 Universities. He also coached a 2nd team NJCAA All-American. Hammond also started his playing career at Western Texas College. He played at WTC during the 2018-19 season as well as the 2019-2020 season. Hammond was a part of the 2019-20 team that beat the #3 team in the country and advanced to the NJCAA Region V Semifinals. That team was ranked as high as #11 in the country and was nationally ranked for 5 weeks. Hammond finished his playing career at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. During his 2 seasons at UMHB, they won the ASC Regular Season Championship twice and the ASC Conference Tournament once. They advanced to the NCAA Division III Elite 8 during his senior season. Hammond shot 48% from 3 during his senior season, the 2nd highest 3-point percentage in the country. Hammond was also named ASC Honorable Mention during his senior season. During the 2021-22 season, Hammond was named to the All ASC Academic team and selected to the NABC Honors Court. Hammond graduated from Belton High School in Belton, Texas, in 2017. He holds an Associate of Arts Degree from Western Texas College as well as a Bachelor of Science in Sports
Management from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. Coach Hammond is from Belton, Texas.
