Snyder, TX—Western Texas College is pleased to announce their 2023-2024 Men’s Basketball roster.
Coach Matt Hardy is entering his 3rd season as the Head Coach of the WTC Men’s Basketball Team.
Mason McBride | 6’5 Guard | Sophomore | Houston, Texas
Last Season: Mason started in all 30 games as a Freshman for the Westerners. He averaged 12.4ppg and 4.4 rpg. He had a career high 26 points vs Howard.
Prior to WTC: Mason averaged 17ppg and 7rpg at Mt. Zion Prep in Lanham, Maryland.
High School: Played at Manvel HS in Manvel Texas.
Jeremiah Nyarko | 6’9 Forward | Sophomore | Accra, Ghana
Prior to WTC: Appeared in 16 games as a Freshman for the University of San Diego Toreros (WCC), including one start vs Arizona State.
High School: Sierra Canyon posted a 26-5 record and advanced to the Southern California Regional, finishing with a national ranking of No. 17 by USA Today. Nyarko also attended St. John Bosco High School, where he was named Second Team All-League twice and Student-Athlete of the Year with a 4.0 GPA. In 2018, he was selected to represent Ghana for the NBA Academy in addition to Basketball Without Borders.
Daniel Nixon | 6’7 Guard/Forward | Sophomore | White Plains, New York
Prior to WTC: Spent two seasons at George Washington University (A-10). 2021-2022: Appeared in five games off the bench ... Scored his first career point on a free throw at Dayton (2/12). 2022-2023: Appeared in the season opener vs. Virginia State (11/7), scoring two points ... Underwent season-ending knee surgery in January.
High School: Rated as a three-star recruit out of White Plains, NY ... Rated as the #52 small forward nationally in his recruiting class ... Chose GW over multiple offers, including Georgetown, Iowa, Ole Miss and Wake Forest ... Finished his high school career at Winston-Salem Christian after moving to North Carolina ...
Tazir Smith | 6’3 Guard | Sophomore | Woodbridge, Virginia
Prior to WTC: Tazir played in 28 games and started 21 for the State Fair Community College Roadrunners. He averaged 11.6ppg and 4.3rpg while shooting 37.6% from 3pt and 43.8% from the field. He had a career high 21 points vs North Arkansas.
High School: Played at Virginia Academy in Ashburn, Virginia.
Aaron Potter | 6’3 Guard | Sophomore | Tulsa, Oklahoma
Prior to WTC: Appeared in all 32 games and started 8 as a Freshman at Hutchinson Community College. Potter averaged 8.8ppg and 2.4rpg while shooting 36.9% from 3pt and 83.9% from the FT line. Had a career high 22pts twice, vs Cowley College and Northwest Kansas Tech.
High School: Played at Booker T Washington HS in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Ranked #1 player in Oklahoma for 2022 class on Prep Hoops.
Sam Kodi | 6’3 Point Guard | Sophomore | Manchester, New Hampshire
Prior to WTC: Appeared in 27 games as a Freshman for Southern New Hampshire University. Shot 46.6% from the field, 40% from 3pt, and 75% from the FT line. Scored a career-high 15 points vs St. Anselm.
High School: Played at Bradford Christian Academy in Lawrence, Massachusetts.
William Lobor | 6’7 Forward | Freshman | Portland, Maine
High School: Played at BFL Prep in Renton, Washington. Ranked #8 in the state of Washington for the 2023 class.
Makhaya Moore | 6’9 Forward | Freshman | St. Michael, Barbados
High School: Played at Bishop Loughlin HS in Brooklyn, New York. Ranked #42 in the state of New York and the #4 PF on Prep Hoops. Member of the Barbados U18 National Team.
Djylan Ferrin | 5’10 Point Guard | RS Freshman | Paris, France
Prior to WTC: Red Shirt year at Snow College (Utah).
Liam Campbell | 5’9 Point Guard | Freshman | London, England
High School: Played at Crest Academy in London, England. Member of United Kingdom U18 National Team. Won the U18 National Cup and was Finals MVP. He is an England U18 selection, NBL and EYBL MVP.
Gerron Trapps | 6’2 Guard | Freshman | Peoria, Illinois
High School: Played at Manual High School in Peoria, Illinois. Averaged 20ppg to help Manual to a 21-10 record and a Big 12 Conference Championship.
Zaiden LeCroy | 6’0 Point Guard | Sophomore | Levelland, Texas
Last Season: Appeared in 13 games for the Westerners last season. Had a career-high 5pts vs Angelina College.
Prior to WTC: Prepped at Strength N Motion Prep in San Antonio, Texas
High School: Played at Levelland High School in Levelland, Texas. He averaged 19ppg 4apg and 4rpg.
Matthew Pillans | 6’3 Guard | Sophomore | Rotan, Texas
Last Season: Appeared in 8 games for the Westerners. Scored a career high 7 points vs USW JV.
