Women's Soccer: First Loss of Season at Garden City

Garden City, Kan. — Women's soccer team saw its unbeaten start end Friday afternoon, falling 1-0 on the road to Garden City Community College in non-conference action.

The Lady Westerners, who entered the match 2-0-1 after a 3-2 victory over Lamar Community College on Monday, could not break through despite generating quality chances. Both sides finished with 11 shots, but Garden City capitalized on one of its opportunities to hand Western Texas its first defeat of the 2025 campaign.

Kaitlyn Lucy Crouch led the Westerners' attack with five shots, including two on target, while Ella Faith Schultz and Mia Sanchez added additional looks on goal.

Mika Stanfield posted a season-high five saves.

Western Texas also held a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks, but could not find the finishing touch in the attacking third.

As a result, the Lady Westerners moved to 2-1-1 during the season and continued their Kansas road trip on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. against Dodge City Community College.
