Snyder, TX - Western Texas women's basketball (5-13, 0-5 WJCAC) hosted the Howard Hawks (9-10, 1-4) on Thursday night, 49-73.
In their first home conference game in nearly three weeks, the Lady Westerners returned home for a conference matchup against Howard College. It was a competitive start with Western Texas College ahead most of the first quarter. With a three-point buzzer beater to end the first ten minutes, the Hawks went up, 18-23.
Howard would grow their lead throughout the second quarter as the Lady Westerners found themselves down twenty at halftime, 26-46. The third quarter was much of the same as the Hawks kept a consistent twenty point lead. The two teams went into the final ten minutes with a 15 point difference, 38-63. Western Texas fell to Howard, 49-73.
Kendall Carlock led the Lady Westerners in points with 21, came down with five rebounds and a block. Hannah Simmons was second in scoring with 17 points, recorded a steal and four rebounds. Essenia Landers had the most rebounds with seven, two assists and scored two.
UP NEXT: Western Texas will travel to Midland for their next conference game on Monday, January 27th. Tip off will be at 5:45pm.
