Coach Stefan Campos begins his fifth year at Western Texas College as the assistant coach for the cross country and track and field teams. Campos is excited for another year to work alongside Coach James Williams and Coach Trinity Williams.

Coach Campos is excited to have four sophomores returning on the women’s cross country team. Brook Rauch was a National Qualifier for Indoor Track and Lizette Aguilera placed 16th at the Regional Cross Country Meet last year.

Last season, Coach Campos helped coach the men’s 4 x 800m team to a 7th place finish at the Indoor National Track & Field Championships. At the same meet, he also coached the 5th place finisher in the 1,000 meters.

During his second season assisting the cross country program, the men’s team made their first national appearance since 2012. In track, he helped coach two indoor school record holders and two outdoor school record holders.

Prior to Western Texas College, Campos was a graduate assistant at Tarleton State University under Head Coach Pat Ponder where he worked with the middle distance and long distance runners. During his time at Tarleton, Campos had the opportunity to work with the men’s and women’s cross country teams who placed 2nd and 1st at the Lone Star Conference Championships, respectively.

As a former cross country and track and field athlete at Tarleton State, Campos holds the indoor school record in the 1,000 meter run.

Campos, a graduate of Jourdanton High School, earned his undergraduate in business administration and master’s degree in Kinesiology from Tarleton.
