Cauy Pool Receives 2019 Colt Bruce Memorial Scholarship

Bruce Memorial Scholarship

Western Texas College is pleased to announce that sophomore Cauy Pool received the 2019 Colt Bruce Memorial Scholarship. Originally from Riley, Oregon, Pool competes in Bareback riding for the WTC Rodeo Team.

The Colton Bruce Memorial Scholarship is named for Colten James Bruce, a 23 year old bareback rider who lost his life in an automobile accident in late 2014.

Bruce, a PRCA bareback rider, accomplished quite a bit in his short career: Texas High School Finals go-around winner, U.P.R.A. Finals, C.P.R.A. Finals, C.N.F.R. qualifier, Australian Pro Rodeo Association national Finals qualifier, All-American Pro-Rodeo Series three-time qualifier, and Texas Circuit Finals qualifier.

He may best be remembered for his amazing outlook on life. Bruce always wore a big grin and never anything get him down. He possessed a strong work ethic and a drive that couldn't be matched. Rodeo was truly his calling.

The Bruce Family feels that since the scholarship started, they have found great rodeo cowboys deserving of the scholarship who have hearts for rodeo and are all-around good people.
