Lorenzo Anthony enters his first year as an Assistant Coach for the Western Texas College Men’s Basketball team.

Previously, Anthony held position as an assistant coach (2013- 2015), graduate assistant (2010- 2012) and volunteer coach 2009- 2010, all at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas. His responsibilities included recruiting, player development, film, team scouting and practice planning.

Anthony attended Highlands High School earning All- Area and All- State honors while being ranked Top 100 in the state of Texas and was named a McDonald’s All- American nominee.

Anthony began his college career at North Lake College in 2005. During his time at NLC, the team was Metro Athletic Conference Champions in 2005 and 2006 NJCAA Division III National Champions. He was nominated All- Conference.

After North Lake College, Anthony attended St. Mary’s University where he was a two year starter. He was a two-time Conference Defensive Player of the Year 2007 and 2008 also named St. Mary’s Male Athlete of the Year.

During his coaching career, Anthony has coached athletes who have earned great honors: 1 First Team All- American; 10 All- Conference honors; 2 Conference Freshman of the Year; 2 Conference Newcomer of the Year; Conference All- Time Leading Rebounder; and Conference All- Time leading Scorer. In addition, three of his players played in the NBA development league and four overseas.

Anthony is a native of San Antonio, Texas. Anthony earned his bachelor’s degree in Exercise and Sport Science in 2009 and his master’s in Educational Leadership in 2013 from St. Mary’s University.  Coach Anthony brings strong coaching abilities with a win-only attitude and a great depth of basketball knowledge to the Western Texas College program.
