Westerners Earn Second Conference Victory

Snyder, TX - Western Texas men's basketball (11-8, 2-3 WJCAC) defeated the Howard Hawks (14-6, 2-4 WJCAC) on Thursday night, 65-57.

Western Texas men's basketball came back home after three games on the road. The Westerners came out strong and went up by double digits early in the first half, 14-4. The home side continued their advantage and went on to lead by seven at halftime, 32-25. 

Midway through the second half, the Westerners held strong with a ten point edge. With skillful passing and points off of turnovers, Western Texas held their lead in the second half. The Westerners outscored the Hawks by a single point in the second half but profited off of their successful start. The home team won their second conference game of the season against Howard, 65-57. 

Quentin Henry led his team in scoring with 17 points, recorded five rebounds and two steals. Ronald Durham finished the game with the most rebounds with six and most assists with seven. Justin McCall also had double digit scoring with ten points, four rebounds and an assist. The win gave the Westerners their eleventh overall victory and second conference victory.  

UP NEXT: The Westerners next matchup will be at Midland College on Monday, January 27th. Tip off will be at 7:30pm.
